MobiAdz, Premium Mobile Advertising Network

StratosHear announced the launch of MobiAdz, its premium mobile advertising network. Make My app

In a run up to the launch of the much anticipated Nokia N8, Nokia has announced the “Make My app” contest inviting consumers across India to send in exciting new ideas for mobile applications. Three best entries will win a cool new Nokia N8, and the winning ideas will be developed into downloadable applications by professional developers and placed on the Ovi Store for consumers to download and enjoy.

The Nokia “Make My App” contest will run from August 19, 2010 to September 19, 2010, ahead of the Nokia N8 going on sale in India. Participation is simple – consumers can log on to www.makemyapp.nokia.co.in, and submit their app ideas under any one or all of four categories, viz. Think Green, Fun and Games, Easier Living and Better World. The ideas will then be opened to public voting online and every week, 10 of the most popular ideas will be shortlisted to the final round. Three “top ideas” will eventually be chosen from the shortlist by a panel of judges.

Mobile Monday is a global community of wireless industry professionals. The open community promotes the wireless industry. It fosters cooperation and networking among interest groups, industry and their companies by providing the logistics and opportunities for personal and virtual contacts. It is an open forum.  All individuals and organizations with good standing in the community may participate. Topics discussed in the forum are widely disseminated to the global network.

Mobile Monday Bangalore (MOMOB)

Bangalore chapter of Mobile Monday started its activities in June 2006 and is the first Mobile Monday chapter in India

Mobile Monday Bangalore (MOMOB) is registered as a Not For Profit trust, with founder Trustees as Rajiv Poddar, (Co-founder & CEO of Sedna Wireless) , Thiyagarajan M ( Co-founder  & CEO of Motvik), Keshav Reddy, (CEO of Numo Solutions) and S. R Raja (General Manager, Strategy, Sasken Communication Technologies Ltd).  S. Since inception the community has been steadily growing, currently there are 850+ members in the mailing list. The average number of Mobile Monday event attendees has grown from 25 in the first meet to approximately 75 people now. The highest attendance count recorded so far has been 110 in January 2007. MOMOB has organized 35 meets so far. Past Speakers in Mobile Monday Bangalore are from various mobile & telecom companies from Bangalore and elsewhere in the globe. Topics ranging from Mobile VAS, Mobile TV, Mobile Location Based Services, Wimax Technologies, Group Messaging, Mobile Web,  Indian Wifi Scenario, Mobile Payments & Authentication, 3G & IMS in India, Impact of Mobile Development in Rural India have been discussed in past Mobile Monday meets.

Mobile Developer Conference – Post Event Note

Mobile Developer Conference gathered the mobile developer enthusiasts & professionals from Bangalore and other parts of the country on March 27 2010 at Hotel Royal Orchid for a day long event. The theme titled as Emerging Edition explored to examine the massive changes in the mobile industry and the enhanced significance of developer communities in the changed scenario.

The Conference exceed expectations with over 225 people (expected 200) attending the conference from various parts of the country Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai & Pune.

The conference day had a good line up of thought provoking and challenging agenda for the delegates including discussion on user experience, pitfalls of a technology approach, perils of having a single app dependence of business success and appconomics. It also included deep technical session which covered tips, techniques on solving common issues from experienced professionals in areas of porting, automated testing, enterprise mobile apps, game development and others.

Audience in the conference included policy makers, CTO & VP Engineering of mobile development companies, publishers, UX designer, product managers, business managers and most significant in numbers the mobile developers.

Keynote speaker Mr. R N Prabhakar, outlined the journey the Indian mobile industry and criticality of keeping user experience in mind for success. Plenary session by Mr. Atul chitnis explained on “how to” and more importantly “how not to” build applications to be adpoted by the next billion set of users. Session from Mr. Edwin Moses left the audience spell bound on how one needs to go beyond the koolaid to think and build successful business from the new changes in the mobile landscape. Panel discussion on Appconomics discussed in detail the different goto market strategies and its significance of economics of app building.
