Description:The two most common words one encounters in getting directions in India are ‘opposite to’ and ‘next to’ – which could mean anything from ‘in front of’,‘behind’, ‘adjacent’, ‘in the same block’ and so on. Predicting the direction of how LBS will evolve in India is no easier with multiple interpretations and implications. Recent developments in the various sectors of the Indian market indicate the increasing awareness of Location Services and the willingness to adopt these services. However, in an early market like India, Location Services face significant challenges ranging from lack of quality mapping data, strict privacy issues to varied customer perceptions.
